Our employees and leaders work hard, and HR’s role is to remove friction and barriers to productivity, not create more. By implementing Lattice, we’re reinforcing our commitment to respecting everyone’s time and building trust across the organization.
Scrum Alliance, a globally recognized nonprofit organization, has been at the forefront of agile transformation for over 20 years. With employees spread across 17 states and a new leadership team driving a company-wide transformation, Head of HR Taylor Kelly needed a system to eliminate administrative burden, streamline HR operations, and empower managers to focus on leading their teams.
Taylor manages everything from organizational design, talent development, benefits, compensation, employee engagement, and performance management. But disconnected systems, heavy administrative work, and scattered HR data made it difficult to be strategic.
Lattice HRIS changed that, helping Scrum Alliance reclaim time, strengthen engagement, and improve manager effectiveness while consolidating multiple HR tools into one.
25 Manual HR Processes Eliminated
Prior to the implementation of Lattice, many HR-related tasks such as reporting and analytics, onboarding, payroll and benefits reminders, engagement surveys, and performance reviews were highly manual. Each new hire onboarding process required multiple checklists and follow-ups, adding hours of unnecessary work for both HR and managers. It also created a fragmented onboarding experience for new hires.
Lattice HRIS automated most onboarding admin work and elevated Scrum Alliance’s new hire experience. Employees now complete tasks in a self-service platform, managers receive automatic prompts for key actions, and HR has reclaimed time spent on administrative work. The team has been able to reinvest that time to focus on cultural alignment and new hire engagement. Since the implementation of Lattice and its new hire onboarding survey launch, new hires have rated Scrum Alliance’s overall onboarding score a 96.
“With the automation of HR processes and hours of my time back each month, I can focus on executing our HR strategic roadmap which aims to drive org performance and enable greater business results — this includes everything from optimizing our total rewards programs to driving our inclusion and belonging strategy,” says Taylor.
Four to Six Hours Saved Per New Hire
First impressions matter, and Taylor wanted to design an onboarding experience that would set employees up for long-term success. However, without a dedicated onboarding system, HR was losing four to six hours per new hire on manual tasks like sending welcome emails, setting up systems, and assigning training materials.
With Lattice’s automation, onboarding ensures every new hire receives a structured, consistent experience. New hires now get a personalized 30-60-90 day plan with milestone check-ins, goal-setting guidance, and a network wheel — a visual guide to key team members they should meet.
"With the reduction in manual processes I’ve been able to move ahead of schedule on various initiatives, including our benefits strategy and plan negotiations,” says Taylor. “In fact, we will see significant improvements for our team members this year during open enrollment, as we are reducing our employees’ monthly out-of-pocket premiums by more than 20% and adding a new medical plan offering."
Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS) Increased from 45 to 65
Scrum Alliance’s engagement levels improved after implementing Lattice.
By centralizing engagement surveys — onboarding, exit, pulse, and semi-annual engagement surveys — Scrum Alliance gained real-time insights into employee sentiment. Employees now have a structured way to provide feedback, and leadership can act quickly on areas for improvement.
Taylor attributes the strong eNPS score to Scrum Alliance’s dedication to employee recognition and the support it provides its employees, with Lattice being a key part of its efforts to enhance the employee experience. Since the implementation of Lattice, eNPS increased from 45 to 65.
"As the head of HR, I am responsible for driving a wide range of people programs, many of which require significant time and effort from both team members and managers. My role is to make sure that the tools and processes we implement support their work and make their lives easier,” Taylor says.“That’s why I chose Lattice — because it offers an integrated, user-friendly solution that streamlines key functions like performance reviews.”
“Our employees and leaders work hard, and HR’s role is to remove friction and barriers to productivity, not create more,” she adds.“By implementing Lattice, we’re reinforcing our commitment to respecting everyone’s time and building trust across the organization. It’s about making sure our team members feel heard, supported, and confident that their time is valued."
92% Manager Effectiveness Score & Improved Efficiency
Manager effectiveness is a key predictor of retention and team success, and Lattice empowered Scrum Alliance’s managers to lead more effectively.
Before Lattice, managers experienced a disjointed performance review and feedback process. Now, tools such as real-time employee engagement data, streamlined goals and performance check-ins, and structured 1:1s with AI-generated talking prompts ensure managers are equipped to support and develop their teams.
While Taylor estimates that Lattice has reduced her own administrative work by 75%, she’s also heard consistent feedback from managers: the tools help them be more efficient and more effective.
Across the board, Scrum Alliance’s managers are showing up to one-on-ones better prepared, delivering higher-quality reviews, and spending less time on manual processes — freeing them up to focus on what matters most: supporting their teams.
The result? A 92% manager effectiveness score, with employees reporting high levels of alignment (95 score) and core engagement (92 score).
$10,000+ Saved in Software Costs by Consolidating to Lattice
Running HR across multiple disconnected systems wasn’t just inefficient, it was expensive. Scrum Alliance previously used four different HR tools for performance management, engagement surveys, onboarding, and employee data, leading to redundant costs and a disjointed employee experience.
By transitioning to Lattice HRIS, Scrum Alliance consolidated four tools, saving over $10,000 annually while significantly improving HR efficiency and visibility into workforce trends.
"Taylor has been the driving force behind transforming how we support and engage our people at Scrum Alliance. She’s built an HR function that not only runs efficiently but deeply reflects our values. The systems and strategies she’s put in place have elevated our employee experience in measurable ways. With Lattice, I now have real-time visibility into engagement and performance trends, along with custom analytics that allow me to take swift, informed action on employee feedback. It’s given me a direct line to what our people need — and the ability to actually do something about it," says Tristan Boutros, CEO of Scrum Alliance.
Scaling HR Impact
For Scrum Alliance’s HR team, Lattice HRIS didn’t just streamline processes — it unlocked the ability to accomplish more than they thought possible. With 25 HR processes automated and four to six hours saved per new hire, Taylor reclaimed valuable time.
“My top priority is executing our people strategy and driving initiatives that make Scrum Alliance the best possible workplace, ensuring our workforce is happy, engaged, and motivated. Implementing Lattice has given me back valuable time and empowered me to create measurable value that helps us achieve our organizational goals, while also driving value for the Scrum Alliance community that we exist to support.”
