Building the People-Powered Future: Lattice’s Roadmap for AI, Talent, and Payroll

This week at Lattiverse, we unveiled the next steps toward our People-Powered Future by announcing several upcoming innovations designed to reshape how HR leaders support their teams. While our new HRIS is the headline of the day, we’re thrilled to share what’s next for the Lattice People Platform. From AI-driven coaching to integrated payroll and benefits administration, these tools are designed to help HR teams unlock the potential of their people while streamlining processes.

Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming down the road later this year and beyond.

Introducing the Lattice AI Assistant: Freeing HR Teams to Focus on What Matters

HR teams are often pulled in two directions — answering routine questions like “How do I update my address?” or “What’s our parental leave policy?”— while also trying to find time for the strategic, people-focused work that drives real impact. Today, at Lattiverse, we announced the Lattice AI Assistant, designed to do both: automate routine tasks and deliver personalized guidance, empowering employees and managers to grow while freeing HR to focus on what matters most.

The AI Assistant will empower employees by providing instant, tailored coaching and answers to their HR-related questions. Whether it’s career advice or feedback from recent reviews, employees will access relevant insights instantly. Imagine receiving a personalized plan to land your next promotion or a curated list of learning opportunities aligned with your goals—helping you grow with clear, targeted guidance.

Managers, too, will benefit from the AI Assistant’s proactive coaching, helping them lead more effectively. For example, managers will receive recommendations on how to deliver feedback, suggestions for discussion topics in their 1:1s based on engagement survey results, and even prompts to follow up on development goals.

For HR teams, the Proactive Q&A Portal will be a game changer, allowing employees to self-serve by receiving quick answers to common HR and talent-related questions. Instead of HR teams repeatedly answering the same policy inquiries, employees will be empowered to find the information they need on their own. This frees up significant time for HR leaders, allowing them to shift focus from administrative work to more strategic initiatives, such as improving employee engagement and driving performance across the organization.

In addition, the Knowledge Vault allows admins to consolidate company context into Lattice through document uploads, Lattice insights, and integrations with content and learning management systems. The Admin Training Center further supports HR by offering a dashboard that tracks all questions, AI responses, and workflows to approve or correct answers, ensuring accuracy.

Finally, with Personalized Recommendations & Actions, employees can create growth areas based on feedback, while managers can add agenda topics based on engagement survey results. By automating repetitive inquiries, providing tailored coaching, and equipping employees and managers with the insights they need to grow, the Lattice AI Assistant transforms how organizations manage their talent. HR teams can now reclaim their time for strategic work, while employees and managers benefit from proactive, personalized support — all driving toward a more efficient, empowered workplace.

Elevating Talent Management: Succession Planning and PIPs

In addition to AI advancements, we’re introducing new tools that will transform how HR leaders manage their people, from top performers to those needing more support.

First, our Succession Planning tool helps companies identify and develop future leaders. With workflows that make it easy to tag top performers and assign readiness timelines, you’ll have a clear view of who’s prepared to take on critical roles. For example, if a VP position opens up, you can use Lattice Succession Planning to create a list of employees with the highest potential and quickly assess their level of readiness and risk of attrition.

We’re also addressing performance challenges with our new Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs). With this tool, managers can create structured, transparent plans to help employees who are struggling, ensuring clear communication, measurable milestones, and accountability. Everything is tracked in Lattice, making progress easy to follow and document.

The upcoming Lattice Succession Planning tool includes filters like “readiness” and “attrition risk” to assess the strength of the successor bench.

Looking Ahead: Payroll and Benefits Administration Integration

As part of our commitment to building a comprehensive HR ecosystem, we’re expanding the Lattice HRIS to include Payroll and Benefits Administration, set to launch early next year — we’re accepting customers interested in running Lattice Payroll as early as January 1, 2025. These tools will allow for seamless integration between payroll, time tracking, and compensation processes -– reducing manual data entry and ensuring error-free payroll runs.

With our partnership with Employee Navigator, benefits administration will be fully integrated, allowing demographic changes like new hires or terminations to sync automatically across systems. This means no more juggling spreadsheets or worrying about deductions -– everything flows smoothly between payroll and benefits, giving your HR teams and employees a unified experience.

In addition, we’re enhancing integration capabilities by developing a Partner API. This new API will enable fluid interaction between Lattice and other systems, offering more flexibility and robust integration options. By focusing on consistency, scalability, and ease of use, we’re ensuring partners can securely access and synchronize data across platforms.

Lattice Payroll and Lattice Time Tracking are currently in beta and launching in early 2025.

What’s Next?

Lattice continues to evolve, with dozens more innovations coming to the Talent Suite, including Promotions, AI Growth Recommendations, Customizable Compensation Statements, and Identifiable Surveys, all launching this fall.
