July 2025 Product Updates: Employee Health, PIPs, Analytics Charts, and More

Announcements
July 31, 2025

Where did July go?! We are not sure, but we do know we spent this summer month focused on foundational improvements to make Lattice easier to use and more powerful at scale. From a major Goals refresh and new Compensation updates to a brand-new Performance Improvement product and a game-changing Employee Health feature, this month’s releases are all about helping People teams get more out of our platform.

 Let’s dive in!

Introducing Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs)

Lattice Performance Improvement Plans was built from the ground up for modern people teams. Over the past year, we’ve worked closely with dozens of HR leaders to understand what they actually need in a PIP tool: flexibility, structure, and data.

We heard you. The brand new Lattice PIPs provides:

  • HR-approved templates: Start with consistent language and expectations. Need different templates for global teams? You can add as many as you need.
  • Approval workflows: Managers can’t share plans until HR gives the green light. You stay in control of what’s sent and when.
  • Employee acknowledgment flows: Employees confirm receipt of their plan in-platform, creating clarity from the start. You can even personalize the acknowledgment message to match your tone and culture.
  • Collaborators: Bring in HRBPs, department heads, or other stakeholders. They’ll have access and can contribute updates throughout the process.
  • Progress tracking: Managers, HR, collaborators, and employees can all add updates. HR and managers can also add private updates when needed.
  • Reports and analytics: Use the HR dashboard for a high-level view across all plans. Dig deeper in Analytics Explorer with filters for manager, tenure, department, and more. Download plans as PDFs and CSV files.
  • Audit-ready documentation: With approval logs, update histories, and outcomes all in one place, HR and Legal get the defensibility they need.

And the best part? It’s included for all Lattice Performance Management customers at no extra cost. Just turn it on, configure your templates and permissions, and you’re ready to go. Take a product tour today!

Spot turnover risk with Employee Health

Available to all customers using both Lattice HRIS and Performance, Employee Health gives you an early signal of potential turnover risks before they become painful realities. By analyzing data across team stability, growth, feedback, sentiment, and tenure, Lattice surfaces a simple score for every employee: high, medium, or low health. That score reflects the likelihood that someone may be at risk of leaving, giving you the insights you need to act quickly and thoughtfully.

Refresh How You Set and Track Goals

We’ve officially kicked off an extensive refresh of the Goals experience, designed to address customer feedback and lay the groundwork for future improvements. This first phase brings clearer navigation, better data visibility, and a modernized interface. Highlights include:

  • Cascade view as the default, now styled for better readability and navigation
  • A consistent, platform-standard table across views with enhancements like bulk selection and improved scroll behavior
  • Simplified view management with a single dropdown for saved and default views
  • Improved bulk operations with clearer status labels and smarter feedback
  • Standardized goal cards across list and tree views for consistency
  • Streamlined goal creation, now launched from a single, easy-to-access side panel
  • Persistent tooltips to surface progress metrics across all views
  • Cleaner interface with clearer column labels, zoom and filter controls, and reduced visual clutter

These updates, alongside our earlier 2025 releases like goal duplication and filter improvements, mark a major step toward making Goals a more intuitive and reliable part of your people strategy.

Simplify Compensation with Smarter Workflows

This month’s Compensation updates focus on reducing bottlenecks, increasing visibility, and supporting more confident decision-making across your comp cycle.

  • Two-way visibility: We’ve introduced a new option to give everyone in the approval chain access to the latest compensation recommendation, improving transparency, speeding up issue resolution, and fostering better communication across levels.
  • Single editor control: Now, only one person can edit a recommendation at a time before it moves up the chain to the next approver, helping avoid conflicting changes.
  • Admin submit on behalf of: Admins can now submit recommendations on behalf of others to keep cycles moving.
  • Approval streamlining: If someone submits without explicitly approving each line item, approvals will now auto-complete to move the cycle forward.
  • Recommendation defaults: If no value is entered, the system will now default to zero. No more needing to manually input 0s!
  • Updated participation visuals: Recommendation and approval tracking have been separated for better clarity and insight.
  • New notifications: Approvers are now notified when (1) all downchain approvals are complete, and (2) someone up the chain has submitted, which may signal a recommendation change.
  • Weighted scores in budgeting: Weighted scores from reviews can now be used to inform comp guidance and budget allocations.

Streamline Performance Workflows for Admins and Managers

Promotion nominations are now fully integrated into Calibrations, so teams can review, filter, and take action on nominations without switching contexts. Permissions and access settings are easier to manage, too.

Additionally, we’ve made it easier to turn on Updates for your organization. When an admin enables Updates, it now activates automatically for all managers, removing a manual step and helping more teams stay on track with regular check-ins.

Updates to Lattice HRIS

This month’s HRIS updates give admins more control, speed, and customization across onboarding, payroll, and time off.

  • Improved Onboarding Buddy Workflows: Admins can now assign onboarding buddies before a new hire’s first day, and easily view their details directly from related tasks.
  • Customizable Bonus Plan Frequency: Bonus plans are no longer limited to an annual cadence. Create programs with the frequency that fits your business.
  • Duplicate Tasks and Emails: Save time by duplicating onboarding tasks and emails, including all dynamic fields.
  • 401(k) Payroll Report: Payroll Admins can now generate a templated 401(k) report with all the contribution data needed to submit post-payroll.
  • Disable Time Off Approvals: Time off policies can now be configured to skip manager approval, giving admins more flexibility when setting up time off workflows.
  • Custom Sensitive Fields: Designate sensitive fields, like non-US national IDs, for extra protections, including masking and restricted access.
  • Add and Archive Leave Types: Admins can now create and archive leave types to better manage time off policies.
  • Multiple Signature Documents: Collect up to five signatures on a single document, making e-signature workflows more powerful and scalable.

Unlock Better Insights and Role Flexibility

We’ve introduced new tools to help HR teams scale access and surface insights more easily.

  • One-to-Many Custom Roles: This new role type allows multiple users (like HRBPs) to share the same permissions, each applied to a unique target group, making it easier to scale support without duplicating role setups.
  • Introducing Analytics Charts (formerly known as Explorer): Charts is the new home for data exploration in Lattice. Use templates, build from scratch, or search through saved Charts to find what you need faster and with a cleaner, more intuitive experience.

Do More with Lattice AI

Lattice AI continues to evolve, making it easier for admins to get started and for employees to get answers they need, when they need them. This July, we are introducing:

  • Admin Onboarding 2.0: You can now activate the AI Agent without uploading documents and test its functionality in a new dedicated setup experience.
  • Org-Aware Agent: The AI Agent now understands your org chart, ask it about managers, direct reports, pronouns, departments, job titles, and more.
