Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at Lattice, and October was no exception! This month, we continued to roll out new features with HR leaders in mind — providing more functionality across the talent suite, stronger security guardrails, and new tools to streamline talent management processes.

Improving the Calibration Process with Customizable Sorting

Earlier this year, we launched a new table user experience for Calibrations, and we’ve now added the ability to sort by any field added — whether it’s a default or custom field. This update is especially helpful for Lattice customers who manage extensive calibration tables, allowing them to organize data in ways that best suit their specific needs and workflows.

Introducing a More Streamlined Promotions Process

The employee promotions process is often time-consuming and complicated, typically managed across separate tools, making it challenging to have all the data you need in one place. Lattice’s new Promotions functionality simplifies everything: promotions, calibrations, and reviews are now easily managed in a single, unified workflow.

  • Managers can nominate employees for promotions during the performance review cycle.
  • HR admins get more control over the approval process.
  • Key stakeholders – like department leads or senior leadership – can access nomination packages via customizable roles.

The entire workflow, from nomination to final approval, is managed in Lattice, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and recognition for deserving employees.

A promotions cycle is displayed and three promotion nominations are marked as Approved.

“[Lattice Promotions] is consistently intuitive and ahead of what all the other management-related softwares are doing and is why I love Lattice.” – Caitlin Dutchak, Director of People & Culture at Fast + Epp

Enhancing Engagement Insights with Identifiable Surveys and Manager of Managers Views

Identifiable Surveys: Anonymous engagement surveys provide a broad view of organization sentiment and will always be essential for gathering honest feedback. But Lattice customers have increasingly requested identifiable surveys, and it’s finally here!

Identifiable surveys empower HR leaders to gain respondent-level feedback to swiftly address concerns, mitigate risks, and monitor changes in individual engagement over time. With detailed, respondent-level data, companies can personalize their responses to ensure employees feel heard and valued. Crucially, we will always make it clear to employees when their names are being collected in engagement surveys to maintain transparency and trust.

Manager of Managers Shared Views in Surveys: Based on customer feedback, we have reintroduced Manager of Managers (MoM) view as a default sharing option across Engagement, Onboarding, and Exit surveys. This view makes it easier for companies to accurately distinguish results between Managers and Manager of Managers, ensuring that the right data reaches the right decision-makers. Customers will also be able to create action plans using these views.

Increasing Privacy and Control with New Platform Features

European Data Residency: While Lattice is fully GDPR-compliant and meets the latest European Union data regulations, we’re excited to offer even more flexibility for future customers with the introduction of European data residency for Lattice’s Talent suite. New customers can now choose to host their data in Europe, specifically in Germany, providing an option to meet company or country-specific data requirements.

Please note that Lattice already requires Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) in all commercial agreements involving the transfer of personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). These clauses ensure that data transferred to us from Europe is adequately  protected. Following the European Court rulings in 2020, Lattice has also implemented measures to ensure our SCCs remain a valid and secure data transfer mechanism. You can learn more about our security policies by visiting the Lattice Trust Center.

Exclusions in Group Settings: Admins can now exclude specific users from groups, even if they meet the group’s criteria. For example, when creating a group for "all engineering," admins can exclude senior leaders if needed. This feature provides greater control and flexibility, ensuring group settings accurately reflect organizational needs without workarounds.

Default Roles and Field-Level Permissions Enhancements: We’ve made a series of improvements to default roles, enhancing both clarity and security. Sensitive fields, such as social security numbers, can no longer be editable by “All Employees,” Managers of Managers, or Managers. Additionally, the “Edit” option is now removed from the "All Employees" default role, safeguarding against broad permissions. We’ve also updated descriptions for default roles and added a “reset defaults” option for field-level permissions, ensuring that permission settings remain flexible yet securely defined.
