Lattice People Analytics: Understand your company culture like never before

—
March 19, 2019

We’re excited to announce today a new People Analytics solution that gives People Operations leaders access to performance, engagement and management data across the company.

People Analytics is centered around the idea of using a data-driven methodology to help adjust people practices and programs, ultimately, in the service of building a strong company culture. This data-driven approach helps People leaders uncover new insights that can help companies overcome common people management challenges or answer interesting questions about your company culture. With Lattice Analytics, you’ll be able to better understand important people management questions.

Why are our top performers leaving?
Who are our best managers? What managers need help?
How often do employees share feedback with each other?
How do employees feel about work-life balance?
Are we doing enough to tackle Diversity and Inclusion challenges?

Without People Analytics, these questions are answered with qualitative inputs (e.g. employee interviews and meetings), and decisions are based around emotions, instincts and beliefs. We believe that with the right tools, People Ops will be able to make decisions based on both qualitative and quantitative inputs, which will lead towards more effective (and fairer) people programs, and the end result will be a strong company culture.

How Lattice Analytics Works

Lattice Analytics works across our suite of people management products and operates around a series of dynamic dashboards.

Depending on the product, these dashboards take on a variety of different forms including -- heatmaps, line-graphs, bar graphs, and scatter-plots -- but more importantly, Lattice gives the ability for customers to filter data around a variety of data points.

The possibilities for data points filtering are literally endless, as we give customers the ability to create custom fields, but we typically see our customers filtering across employee and company information, including Tenure, Gender, Department, Manager vs. IC, Salary Band, and, of course, Performance Ratings.

The filtering system gives People teams the power and flexibility to view employee data in a variety of different ways, and in the process, answer important questions about employees, managers and the company.

Five Common Use Cases

In building People Analytics, we’ve worked with 1,000+ customers to identify the common questions they had about their company, and we’ve found a few main use cases for Lattice's People Analytics solution.

Measure employee engagement

Lattice helps People teams measure employee engagement by sending everyone in the organization anonymous surveys to gauge how employees feel across a variety of topics such as a sense of belonging, company pride, and quality of leadership.

To help People teams analyze engagement data, Lattice provides companies with filterable heatmaps that visualize employee engagement across a variety of characteristics.

Understand employee performance

Lattice helps companies measure employee performance and track performance over time by using performance review data.

With performance review scored attributes and rating questions, companies have the power to identify high and low performers and visualize company performance across the company using our 9-box scatterplot graph.

Track the adoption and ROI of employee programs

Lattice helps companies see engagement levels related to different employee processes ranging how often employees share feedback to status update frequency rates.

These dashboards give People teams visibility into the adoption of people programs, which helps People teams understand, for example, whether they need to retrain the company around a specific process, like giving feedback. This functionality also gives People Operations teams insights to see the ROI of people programs and see if their programs are creating a more engaged and/or productive workforce.

Visualize management practices

Many of our customers encourage managers to have 1:1s every week with their managers, but it's hard for People leaders to understand the impact of these weekly meetings.

To solve this challenge, we now provide a set of dashboards for People teams to visualize whether one-one-ones are happening as the company intended and then see how 1:1s impact employee performance and engagement.

Build a diverse and inclusive workforce

Lattice gives People teams the power to understand how different groups of people at the company feel about their company culture.

With our engagement survey tool, People teams can ask questions specifically related to Diversity & Inclusion, but our Analytics tools unlocks another level of visibility. Now People teams can filter data using pre-set fields such as Gender, and create custom fields related to D&I such as Age and Race. This gives People teams the power to tie D&I data to performance and engagement data.

Building people programs with data science

People Analytics represents Lattice’s first step in building a platform that not only helps companies build people management programs but also gives People teams (and managers) access to data that will drive valuable insights to improve company culture.

We’ve already seen many of our customers use Lattice data to talk about company culture at all-hands and board meetings. Over time, we plan to build more features to make data sharing easier, while also finding ways to proactively surface insights to People teams and managers.

We’re excited to continue building a platform that helps companies build a strong company culture with a data-driven foundation.
