When Peaksware’s People team was stretched thin during a critical performance and compensation cycle, Lattice AI became a real-time thought partner, helping them answer complex questions, stay unblocked, and keep work moving without relying on live support.
I don’t know how we would have gotten through that period of time if I couldn’t have just self-served and asked all of my questions.
When Peaksware first partnered with Lattice, the goal was clear: move away from spreadsheets and build a scalable, secure system for performance and compensation.
At the time, the team of about 270 employees was managing everything manually, pulling data from multiple spreadsheets, responding to leadership questions with delays, and navigating growing concerns around data security and access.
“We needed something that would take us out of spreadsheet world and bring us into a much more modern system,” says Lisa DeCamp, director of people operations
Lattice delivered that foundation, centralizing performance and compensation into a single system that enabled real-time visibility and more efficient workflows.
But the real transformation came later, with the introduction of Lattice AI.
From Expert Support to Real-Time Problem Solving
During implementation, DeCamp partnered closely with the Lattice team to design and configure performance and compensation cycles that would scale with the business.
That hands-on support was critical in helping Peaksware get the foundation right. But as Lisa moved from implementation to day-to-day execution, new questions continued to arise in the flow of work.
That’s where Lattice AI became a natural extension of that partnership.
“There were times when I wanted to work on things over the weekend,” says DeCamp.
Instead of waiting, Lisa could self-serve quick, in-the-moment questions — getting immediate, contextually relevant answers whenever she needed them.
“It really felt like you were interacting with a person. It was a true back-and-forth dialogue.”
Lattice AI as a thought partner
What stood out most wasn’t just speed; it was depth.
Lisa used Lattice AI for everything from straightforward system navigation to complex, nuanced compensation planning scenarios.
For example:
“The ability to use it as a thought partner, to say, I don’t even know how to go about doing this, what ideas do you have?' That was huge,” DeCamp says.
Instead of simply answering “how do I do this?”, Lattice AI helped answer:
“What should I do here?”That shift made it far more than a help tool. Lattice became embedded in how work got done.
Delivering Under Pressure
The true test came during Peaksware’s most recent performance and compensation cycle.
At the same time:
- One HR business partner left the company
- Another went on leave
- Lisa was left to run the entire cycle
“I was the only one who had the bandwidth to configure everything, performance, compensation, working with finance, communications, everything,” DeCamp recounts.
With limited time and no room for delays, efficiency became critical.
I don’t know how we would have gotten through that period of time if I couldn’t have just self-served and asked all of my questions.
Lisa DeCamp, Director of People Operations
Over several months, she relied on Lattice AI to ask and answer dozens of questions, keeping the entire process on track.
Examples of some of those questions included:
- “Our CFO is asking me for admin access to our recently closed compensation cycle. Is that possible?”
- “I need to pull all bonus, merit increase, and promotion data from our most recent comp cycle from Lattice so I can upload that data into our HRIS. How do I pull that data that would incorporate how each manager allocated those envelopes to their teams?”
- “Is it possible to modify a holistic performance rating now that calibration is closed?”
Scaling Expertise Across the Team
Lattice AI also helped extend knowledge beyond a single person.
When a new HR business partner joined, they were able to navigate the system and complete tasks independently, without needing hands-on training.
“She hasn’t come to me with any questions…it’s giving her clearer instructions than I could,” DeCamp says.
This turned Lattice AI into an on-demand resource, reducing reliance on any one individual.
Building toward coaching at scale
Today, Peaksware primarily uses Lattice AI within the people team, but the opportunity ahead is even bigger.
By embedding Lattice into everyday workflows, capturing feedback, tracking performance, and documenting progress, the foundation is already in place.
“If employees and managers are using Lattice throughout the year, it makes the entire performance review process so much easier.”
With AI layered on top, that process becomes even more powerful:
- Summarizing feedback
- Identifying themes
- Supporting better performance conversations
Clear impact and an easy renewal
The value of Lattice AI has been clear across the organization.
“It was such an easy yes from our executive team,” DeCamp says.
Instead of justifying the investment, the team saw immediate alignment with their original goals and a clear return on investment.
Their goals included the following:
“It’s become abundantly clear that we’re getting our return on investment.”
A New Way of Working
For Peaksware, Lattice AI changed how the People team operates:
- No more stalled work
- No more waiting on support
- No more single-threaded expertise
Instead, they have a real-time thought partner, available whenever and wherever work happens. And that’s made all the difference, especially when it mattered most.
